Expert Legal Advice

Hayes Solicitor Birmingham

At our practice you are a name, not a number.

Why work with us?

After graduating in law from Trinity Hall Cambridge University MA (Cantab) I went on to qualify as a solicitor in 1985. I later gained a further law degree from King’s College London in construction law and arbitration with an M.Sc.

I have worked at a number of highly respected law firms including Linklaters in London, Hart Brown and Turbervilles.

I am a full member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (“ACTAPS”) which was set up in 1997 for lawyers who specialise in contentious trust and probate work.

Having had personal experience of the distress and anguish that can occur when a loved-one’s estate is not properly administered I decided to set up Hayes Solicitors Limited in Birmingham to offer clients a wide range of legal services but also specialist advice on contentious trust and probate. I handle every case with compassion, support and an understanding ear.

To date I have successfully dealt with the following types of cases:-

  • Set aside the transfer of a family home on the grounds of undue influence.
  • Sued a large Birmingham firm of solicitors for negligently preparing a mother’s Will which deprived the children of her first marriage from their inheritance.
  • Recovered money that had been stolen from an estate by an executor.
  • Put in place a discretionary will trust and discretionary lifetime trust as tax saving structures.
  • Dealt with the administration of both testate and intestate Estates.
  • Brought and defended claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
  • Advised different firms of solicitors as to the validity of Wills where they were appointed to act as executors.
  • Advised solicitors as to the mental capacity of persons who have made a Will.
  • Advised solicitors as to how to deal with claims by individuals upon an Estate.

I can advise on whether the person who has made a Will had testamentary capacity. If you have been left out of the Will of a parent or partner and believe that you have a claim for reasonable financial provision from the Deceased then you should contact me. Similarly if you believe that an executor is not properly administering an Estate then I can advise you on what steps to take.

Alternatively you may be an accountant, solicitor, financial advisor or wealth management advisor looking for expert advice or to partner with a local expert, then please feel free to contact me.

"I recently contacted Hayes Solicitors to get professional advice on the very sensitive issue of contesting a will. My initial consultation was with Bill Hayes and his wife Oona and I received both a sympathetic ear and excellent advice on the various process steps and associated cost structures. I was genuinely delighted to find that Bill's advice was absolutely around what was the best option for me irrespective of what he may earn from the case. I would recommend Bill's services unreservedly as I found him to be clearly knowledgeable and experienced but also to be entirely honest, ethical and focused on the best outcome for me. Thanks Bill and Oona for your help and support."
